What could I do with all this pregnant art? I have nine pieces of artwork of one of my characters, going through pregnancy. I never really found use for it, anyone have any suggestions? |
| Maybe donate them to a friend who's pregnant or even the ward in which you gave birth to. It might inspire other women to release their emotions in healthy creative ways as well...or give them something to look at while they're not fully dilated yet. |
Is it safe for a pregnant woman to take an art class? I wrote a story about a pregnant girl who happened to be taking an art class, and one of the people who read it expressed concern about whether the chemicals in that kind of place would be safe for the baby. Weirdly, I cannot find any information about this online. Is there any reason an art classroom wouldn't be safe for a pregnant woman? |
| As long as your not eating the paint or using paints or products with heavy fumes I don't see why you couldn't take an art class. Just don't use spray paints. |
Ladies, have you ever done pregnant belly art? I would like to know if any of you mothers out there ever did belly art photos while you were pregnant. I am not a parent yet, but I have seen the belly art photos and I think that would be a really cool thing to do. It looks very fun and the photos would bring back a lot of positive memories about that special time. :-) |
Well hey there! :) I'm 23 weeks pregnant, and I've done some art... My friend did a 'pregnancy cast' of my belly and chest. It turned out quite beautifully, she painted it and everything. I got it done at 21 weeks, and we're planning on doing another when my belly is much bigger. :)
And I've done a lot of self photography of my belly as it progresses... As soon as I found out I was pregnant, at 8 weeks I started taking a few photos per week and then putting them all together so you could see my belly getting bigger and bigger. :)
I'm also planning on doing some more professional type photos with my boyfriend, once I get bigger. =] |
Famous works of art where the subject is suspected to be pregnant? Does anyone know of a famous painting where the subject is suspected to be pregnant? I'd like to use it as an example in a story I'm writing but can't seem to find one. Thanks! |
| Jan Van Eyck's painting "Giovanni Arnolfini and the Bride" supposedly shows a pregnant woman. |
Should I drop my photo and art classes since I am pregnant? I'm taking a photo class in college where I will be developing photos with chemicals - so far we have not been using gloves or goggles or anything. Also I am taking an art class where we are using artist's rubber cement and we'll be using benzene as well later.Should I drop these 2 classes and take other ones and who at the school should I contact? |
| I recommend talking to your instructor to find out what chemicals your class will be using and figure out if its harmful for your expected guy (congrats btw!) by contacting your doctor and see if its safe to use these chemicals while you're pregnant. |

"Detour for Emmy" by Marilyn Reynolds
www.amazon.com/Detour-Emmy-Hamilt…
"Emmy's carefree days are enlivened by friends, time at the beach, anticipation of the new school year, and dreams of college. Longing for the affection and understanding that she doesn't get at home, Emmy is propelled into the arms of overachiever, chorus star, and school hero Arturo. Art promises that he will never hurt her, and their sexual relationship proceeds idyllically and explicitly, complete with birth control. One night, they make love without protection; as a result, Emmy finds herself on a detour from carefully laid academic plans to the road of teen pregnancy and single motherhood. The hardship, tedium, and responsibility of parenting and the pain of deferred dreams..." |
Is it safe to paint pictures (art) at 28 weeks pregnant? not regular wall paint just painting watercolors and acrylic is it okay? |
| Try to avoid lead based paint, and if you are using them use them in a well ventilated area. Avoid strong chemical smells in small areas, watercolors you could get into a 2ft square box and paint if you wanted to. And the positive emotion and hormonal release that accompany acts of creativity is SO good for your baby. The more things you do that release relaxing and positive emotion the better you are doing for your baby! Not just from a "when you're happy your baby is happy" perspective (which is true), but from a bio-chemical perspective. Every emotion releases different chemicals from the brain into the body and the positive ones are good for your babies developing nervouse system. |
